Paul Frederiksen has been on staff since 1990 and is Director of Worship and Care Ministry. He was hired originally as Director of Music in 1990. His duties grew in 1994 to Director of Music and Worship.They grew again in 2009 when he was asked to become the Director of Worship and Care Ministry and again in 2012 when was also asked to oversee properties. Paul is a native of Amarillo and graduated from Tascosa High School. He graduated from Amarillo College and Indiana University and did master’s degree study at Arizona State University, the University of Oregon at Eugene, and Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.
Before joining the staff of First Presbyterian, he served other churches in Amarillo and Scottsdale, AZ, where he also taught at Scottsdale Community College and directed the Masterworks Chorale, formerly known as the Phoenix Opera Chorus. Paul has taken the Sanctuary Choir of First Presbyterian to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City, the City Hall in Vienna, and the Abbey in Melk, Austria.
He and Nancy, a case manager at the VA, have been married for over thirty-two years. They have two grown sons who are married and live in Amarillo, Shane & Sheri and Brandon & Maria, and one granddaughter, Bella.
