Kindergartners and 1st graders and their parents are invited to a special class about the transition from preschool worship to corporate worship. First Pres practices Parenting in the Pew where children learn to worship with their parents in the main services. This important teaching time takes practice, patience, and intentionality from the entire church family. But we feel that the occasional distraction is worth the outcome as research shows that many kids who grow up attending other activities while their parents are in church do not remain in church once they grow out of their children's classes and youth worship. It is key for children to watch their parents and other examples to learn how to go to church together. Corporate worship is important for honoring the Lord, building the Kingdom and encouraging the body. We see that we are instructed to do so in Hebrews 10:25.
25 And let us not give up meeting together. Some are in the habit of doing this. Instead, let us encourage one another with words of hope. Let us do this even more as you see Christ’s return approaching.
On Sept. 29th, during the Sunday School hour, Early Childhood director, Debbie Laur and Elementary director Michal-ann Bell will lead this class and talk about WORSHIP. We will begin in the sanctuary foyer at 9:45 am, tour a few special places in the church and end up in room 231 upstairs in the Children's wing for a reception.
