Worship
At First Pres, we realize that worship is a reverent expression and devoted response to the love that the Lord first gave to us. Not only do we worship God through music and singing, but also in the reading of the Scriptures and prayer. We believe that true worship comes from your heart, but we also know that there are different styles when it comes to church worship settings.
We believe that music is a gift given to us by God to worship Him. We have many different choirs available for participation. Click on the navigation menu to the right and see if there is one to suit your interests. Sanctuary Choir
(Senior High & Adults)
Meet on Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in room 303A. They prepare a wide variety of anthems and sing at both worship services every Sunday morning. They also prepare special music for special seasons of the year which is usually accompanied by orchestra.
Jubilate!
(Senior High & Adults)
Meet on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. in the Sanctuary to rehearse for the 11:00 a.m. service. This group leads worship by learning and singing the fresh new contemporary praise choruses as well as the great hymns of the Church.

Music is displayed in a variety of ways. One of the traditional instruments we use at First Pres is a handbell. Our Chancel Bells choir is for those in high school and older. If you are interested in participating, please contact Norman at the church offices. Here is a little more information about the choir.
Chancel Bells
Meet on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Polk Street United Methodist Church. They prepare challenging handbell music and offer it in worship. In the summer, they usually attend a workshop or Festival to learn more about the art of making music with these unique instruments.

Children's Choirs
Youth of all ages have a choir available to join. At First Pres, we know that children are precious to the Lord and so are their praises. Our choirs seek to offer children a chance to learn foundational aspects of praise and worship, giving them the opportunity to express their love for God. For more information on our children's choirs, please contact Norman at the church.
Angelus Choir
(Grades K, 1 & 2)
Meet on Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in room 304A. This group learns how to use their voices as instruments to praise the Lord and do so occasionally in worship. They also learn the rudiments of music by playing music related games.
Praise Kidz (Formerly Carolers Choir)
(Grades 3, 4, 5)
Meet on Wednesday from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. in room 303A. This group continues to develop their voices as instruments. They begin using hymns, anthems and other forms of printed music which promotes the learning of the rudiments of music. They also offer anthems of praise in worship as often as possible.
Celebration Singers
(Grades 6 - 12)
Meet on Monday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. in room 303A. They prepare anthems as well as contemporary songs to offer in worship. They go out for snacks on the Monday after they sing in worship and usually take a summer trip together.

Children's Bell Choirs
The primary purpose of children's bell choirs is to help them become familiar with instruments and teach them the fundamentals of music. Gradually, they will begin to perform pieces that they have learned. To sign up or for more information, please contact Norman at the church office.
Tower Chimes
(Grades K, 1 & 2)
Meet on Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. in room 305A. This group learns the rudiments of music by playing music related games and ringing Choir chimes. Because performing on an instrument can be especially stressful, this very young group does not usually appear in worship.
Rhythm Kidz (Formerly Joy Ringers)
(Grades 3, 4, 5)
Meet on Wednesday from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. in room 304A. They continue in their music learning and begin ringing handbells. They prepare easy bell pieces which are offered in worship.
